Mahahual is a small town in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. The fishing village, part of Grand Costa Maya, is located on Mahahual Point, at the southern tip of the Yucatán Peninsula. The town is adjacent to the Banco Chinchorro Biosphere Reserve and is within the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, the second-largest coral reef in the world. The town’s proximity to the reef makes it a popular destination for snorkeling and scuba diving. Mahahual also has several Mayan ruins, including the archaeological site of Chacchobén, which dates back to the seventh century. With its white sand beaches and clear turquoise waters, Mahahual is a picturesque spot on the Mexican Caribbean.
