Located on the western slope of Serra da Estrela, Linhares da Beira may have originated in a Portuguese fort. Linhares da Beira, Portugal is a municipality in the district of Guarda. A walk through the village reveals a harmonious urban complex full of charm, where the simple houses built in granite coexist with some manor houses that preserve signs of an ancient nobility.

The municipality of Linhares da Beira, Portugal is crossed by the River Zêzere, which has its source in the Serra da Estrela. This river has been an important factor in the history of the village, since it was used in the past as a means of communication and transport between different regions.

The whole of the village is topped by the vigorous castle that follows the geology of the terrain on a huge rocky hill, from which a spectacular panoramic view can be seen.

The Castle of Linhares da Beira, Portugal is one of the most emblematic monuments in the village. This fortification has a quadrangular plant and was built in the 13th century, at a time when the village was under the dominion of the Order of Santiago.

Despite having undergone several modifications over the centuries, the castle has maintained its original structure and is currently in good condition. Inside the castle, there is a small chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Assunção, which is worth visiting.
