Your day will commence with a pickup from Reykjavik, and then you will embark on a delightful journey along the scenic South Coast. As you travel, the landscape will captivate you with its breathtaking meadows, rugged coastlines, and charming farmsteads.

You will visit the 60-metre high waterfall, Seljalandsfoss, considered a staple stop for sightseeing trips down the coast. Visitors here can walk behind the waterfall if they dare.

Vik i Myrdal

You will make a refreshment stop at the southernmost village of Iceland –Vik i Myrdal where if you walk down the beach, you will be amazed by the sea stacks. According to legend, the stack consists of frozen figures of trolls who were playing in the sea and were subsequently transformed into stone.

Continuing southward towards the east, you’ll witness the landscape undergo a remarkable transformation that will leave you astounded. The scenery evolves from lush farmlands and imposing mountains to vast outwash plains, black deserts, and awe-inspiring elevated regions. If the conditions allow, you will also pay a visit to the stunning river canyon of Fjadrargljufur (please note, it may not be accessible in winter conditions).

Finally, you will reach the highlight of the day, Jokulsarlon, where you will be immediately taken within its ethereal ambience, glittering icebergs, incredible panoramic views and lively wildlife, usually including curious seals and dive-bombing Arctic Skuas.

You will also be able to walk between the icebergs on the so-called “Diamond” or “Crystal” beach. This is a black sand beach at the coastline near the Glacier Lagoon and, very often, there are many icebergs washed up on to the beach which makes for a spectacular view.

On the way back you will stop to look at an old turf church at Hof. Is it a coincidence that it reminds us of hobbit holes.. You will need to find the answer on the tour.
