Glacier Encounter

This tour will start with a short drive from our base to Falljökull glacier, which is a neighbouring glacier outlet descending from the vast Vatnajökull ice cap . At the edge of the glacier, you will learn to put on crampons and have a small safety briefing. With an ice axe at hand we will then embark on a one hour guided excursion on the glacier. Your guide will be pointing out some of the fascinating features of the ice while on the hike and teaching you about some of the local geography and history. The glacier surface and colour change a lot depending on the time of year, but summer is the perfect time to get up on the ice and explore.

A short glacier hike on Falljökull glacier with Local Guide of Vatnajökull, which is a local family company. Our meeting point is close to Skaftafell nature reserve. From there it is only a short drive in our super jeeps for our small group experience.

What Will You Do

We expect you to arrive at our meeting location 15 minutes before the tour starts.

Our meeting point is at Freysnes Service Station. You will see there our big black van marked with a Local Guide logo. You can purchase a coffee or any snack at the station as well as use the toilets before and after the tour.

Get inside the beautiful Benagil cave! The most famous natural attraction of the golden Algarve coast, the Benagil sea cave is a sight to be seen. The only way to get in there is by water, and a guided kayak tour is the best choice! Meet your guide to receive instructions. Your kayak tour to the Benagil cave will start at the Benagil beach. You will be accompanied by a lifeguard guide with much experience for your safety. After a briefing, prepare to get on the kayaks. The kayaks are put and removed from the water by the guides. Then, follow the kayaks from Benagil beach to the famous Marinha beach and its amazing arches. On the way back we will visit the inside of the famous Benagil cave, where you can explore, take photos and relax. The visit lasts 2 hours but in reality only paddles for 45 to 60 minutes, making a stop of 30 minutes in the Benagil Cave, always accompanied by an expert guide who will help you whenever necessary.
