Description

Immerse yourself in the natural and man made beauty of the Douro Valley on a full day tour from Porto. Traveling by air conditioned vehicle, enjoy views of picturesque landscapes far from the dust and crowds of the city center. Visit an old olive oil factory and a local family winery to taste it’s best table wines.
Traveling into the heart of the Douro Valley you will also visit a port wine estate. Learn about the production method of different kinds of port wine as you walk through the vineyards. Then, taste the wines of the estate.

Continue through the Douro Valley enjoying panoramic views of sculptured landscape. There will be a stop at a local restaurant in the village of Pinhão. Marvel at the Portuguese tiles that depict the beauty of the Douro Valley on the façade of the train station. You may take a 1-hour boat cruise before returning back to Porto.

What Will You Do

  • Come join our absolute best selling tour and discover Douro Valley and its unique culture while you taste amazing wines and learn about the wine making process at small local wineries. Let yourself be amazed with breathtaking landscapes as the terraces and vineyards start showing up.
  • You will be picked up from your hotel or accomodation in the city of Porto between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM. Your guide will introduce themselves, as well as all the other guests, and you will be explained about the daily program. The journey starts towards Douro as you will learn more of the region on the way.
  • As part of the itinerary it includes visiting two small local wineries, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, before coming back to Porto. At both wineries you will be in company of an expert local guide who will tell you more about the wine making process as you taste their selected wines.
  • By lunch time we stop in the village of Pinhão, an historical village in the heart of Douro, where lunch takes place at a traditional local restaurant, including a meal of fish, meat or vegetarian (we can also accommodate your meal if you have a gluten free diet – just let us know in advance).
  • Right after lunch it’s time for the 1h river cruise from Pinhão! It takes place on a replica of a Rabelo Boat, an historical boat that transported the wine barrels from Douro to Porto, to be aged and exported all over the world.
  • We will also make small stops for taking pictures and admire the surroundings and nature at local viewpoints during the day.
  • Be back to Porto close to 6:00 PM, certain of having had a memorable experience full of knowledge about the wine, the landscape and the local culture of this beautiful and unforgettable destination.
