Today, you will visit the three famous sites of the Golden Circle route: Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall and Geysir Geothermal Area.
Þingvellir is not only historically significant, but it is a geographical wonder; it is where the Eurasian and the N-American tectonic plates meet.
At Geysir Geothermal Area, you can watch the geyser Strokkur erupt in a large column of hot water and steam. Dotted around the region are also countless bubbling mud pools and hissing steam vents.
Meltwater from a nearby glacier fuels the impressive Gullfoss Waterfall, and there are several viewpoints from which you can get a great selfie with the cascade in the background.
After exploring the sites of the Golden Circle, your guide will take you to your accommodation in the region.
Today, you’ll travel along Iceland’s southern coastline, with massive glaciers in the North and the roaring waves of the Atlantic Ocean to the South.
Stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, found under the infamous Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano. This is a high and narrow cascade that falls over a large cave. Seljalandsfoss is only a short drive away from another waterfall, Skógafoss, which is vastly different but equally impressive.
Cascading down 60-metre tall cliffs, Skógafoss is undoubtedly one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls. The land underneath the cascade is very flat, which creates a mist that produces rainbows on sunny days. The flat land also allows visitors to walk right up to the falling water, so you can take some unique photos here.
Reynisfjara black sand beach is one of the highlights of the day but stay away from the water, the waves can grab you very quickly.
After an exciting day, head to your accommodation in the Vatnajökull area. Make sure to check the skies for signs of the Northern Lights before going to bed.
Today, you'll explore the beautiful Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.
You will find the lagoon in the heart of Vatnajökull National Park. There, enormous icebergs float on a bright blue lake while seals swim around them.
A short walk away from Jökulsárlón is the Diamond Beach. Scattered on the shores of this black sand beach are small icebergs that have washed up on shore. As they glisten in the sunlight, they look like diamonds on a black velvet blanket.
We will also visit an ice cave today so grab the camera and lets go
Spend the night in the area around Reykjavik
Now it is time to explore the magical Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Watching over your journey today is the mighty Snæfellsjökull, a glacier topped volcano which is believed by many to be a great source of mystical energy.
Snæfellsnes is characterised by desolate lava strewn fields, tall mountains, and countless streams and waterfalls.
On the South-side of the peninsula, you can visit the jet-black church at Búðir, the tiny village of Arnarstapi, the massive Lóndrangar rock pillars, and the black pebble beach Djúpalónssandur.
In the North, see the cone-shaped mountain Kirkjufell and its neighbouring waterfall, Kirkjufellsfoss. You can also stop at the charming Stykkishólmur Town for a bite to eat.
When you´ve explored Snæfellsnes to the fullest, travel through the farmlands of West Iceland to the capital city, Reykjavík where you will spend the night. Make sure to look up at the skies before you reach the city in case the Northern Lights show up.
Included: 3 nights hotel accommodation with breakfast and private bathroom, green
fees. English guidance and transport.
