This tour is meant for sweet tooth connoisseurs, eager to taste the traditions and the cultural richness of the city through its historical bakeries, cafés and pastry shops!
Espresso coffees, delicious pastries, ice creams and tiramisù will power you across dozens of bridges we will face!
We will stop in local bakeries which provided Venetians with fresh reasons to roll out of bed over centuries; in historical cafès surrounded by baroque mirrors; in shops serving the top quality of creams and pastries where gondoliers and venetian housewives flock to devour the buttery, just-baked sweetness of Venetian specialties.
You will be mesmerized by traditional cream puffs and biscuits surrounded by the pleasant smell of Italian espresso.

We will store some energy to face our discovery walk tour around Venice in a traditional pastry shop serving sweet treats to Venetians since 1879. Dramatically beautiful neighbourhood close to San Giovanni & Paolo church.
We will continue our walk in the Venetian tradition with a “zaeto”, a typical cornmeal and sultanas biscuit, in a local bakery in the San Marco district.
We will indulge by stopping at the bar counter of one of the historical cafés in Saint Mark’s square, perhaps the one preferred by opera composer Richard Wagner. Surrounded by Baroque mirrors and politically incorrect antique Moor’s chandeliers, we will sip our espresso. We might even ask for a “corretto” (espresso coffee with grappa liqueur).
We will cross the Canal Grande using a Gondola ferry, and we will reach the Zattere in the arty Dorsoduro district. There, we will enjoy a delicious scoop of ice cream in a “gelateria” which was a favourite of Peggy Guggenheim’s, and more recently Angelina Jolie’s.
Feel like true venetian eating the typical biscuit from the island of Burano. We will taste the original recipe in a local family-owned bakery active since 1956.
Moving towards the Santa Croce district we will stop at a bakery where every Venetian has been at least once in a lifetime. In this famous shop the offer is so wide it can mesmerize you! Probably a good choice would be a cup of tiramisu, the most famous Italian dessert.
Zabaione is the most typical pastry filling in Venice, lightly alcoholic due to the Marsala liqueur and extremely tasty. We will try it in a pastry shop which has been a corner bakery since 1742, and whose reputation for “krapfen” (cream puffs), strudels and Venetian donuts has survived many “acqua alta” (high tides).
Entering the Cannaregio district and the oldest Jewish ghetto in the world, we cannot miss to taste some pastry in a traditional kosher bakery. Bite after bite we will discover and understand more the multi-cultural richness of the cities and its historical communities.
