The Stadttempel is considered the main synagogue of Vienna due to its longstanding and distinct history. The synagogue was built with the permission of the Emperor in 1826, and designed by the renowned architect Joseph Kornhäusel. It played a decisive role during World War II, as this was the only synagogue in Vienna to survive the Novemberpogrom of 1938. On our tour, you will exclusively see the inside of the City’s Synagogue and get to know it’s vibrant history. Experience the main Synagogue of Vienna with a professional guide. The Tour will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., afterwards you have a break for lunch until 13:15, where the Walking Tour starts. The Starting point is right next to the Synagogue at Desider-Friedmann-Platz.
On Monday, Thursday and Friday we offer our Walking Tour thru the first District and on Wednesdays our Leopoldstadt(second district) Walking Tour.
Please be aware, that the Walking Tour starts at 13:15 at Desider Friedmann Platz and it depends on the day which tour we offer.
The synagogue tour takes approx. 1 hour and will end at 11:00.
