Taking a journey through Iceland´s most beautiful natural treasures, with an ice axe in hand and crampons on your feet, get in touch with nature by seeing and feeling the ancient ice beneath your feet.

THE TOUR

During the Ice Cave Exploration Tour you will spend 5-6 hours with your professional guide, in this time he/she will share their local knowledge of the area, as well as giving you an inside to Icelandic culture. This tour is rated Medium to Hard, as a result you will be walking a total distance of about 6km on various terrains, including walking on ice. Before you step foot on the glacier your guide will introduce you to all the safety equipment you will be using during the tour and will ensure that you are prepared before taking your first steps on the glacier.

It is highly advisable to take a camera, or at least a phone to capture the amazing moments, because it will not be long before the glacial formations change or even disappear as they normally do.

WHICH ICE CAVES DO WE VISIT?

Since this is our most in depth tour and we have more time to spend exploring, we always choose the most beautiful ice caves to take our clients to. From season to season, even within the season, the ice caves change, old ones disappear and new ones form, we are always exploring looking for the best place to take our clients.

This season 2019/20 we are exploring the amazing Sapphire ice cave as well as a small collection of smaller caves which change more frequently. The photos you see on this page, are of the Sapphire ice cave.

WHAT IS THE GLACIER WALL?

Most commonly known as the Glacier wall, is the edge of the glacier where the ice meets the lagoon or in some cases the ocean. There is usually a good opportunity to see the glacier calve, and offers a unique perspective of seeing the world famous Jökulsárlón – Glacier lagoon from a different vantage point, the view from the glacier.
