Robben Island, Penguins and Cape of Good Hope Full-Day Private Tour
One full day. Three iconic destinations. A journey through history and nature at the southern tip of Africa.
This Full-Day Private Cape Town Tour combines the historical weight of Robben Island with the natural wonders of the Boulders Penguin Colony and the dramatic landscapes of the Cape of Good Hope. It is a rare opportunity to experience the full breadth of what makes Cape Town one of the world's most compelling destinations.
The day begins with a boat crossing to Robben Island, where former political prisoners — including Nelson Mandela — were held during the apartheid era. A resident island guide leads visitors through the grounds, explaining the significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site with firsthand authority.
After returning to the V&A Waterfront, the tour continues south toward the Cape Peninsula. Stops at the Boulders Penguin Colony and the Cape of Good Hope offer contrasting encounters: intimate wildlife observation on a beach boardwalk, and sweeping ocean views at the continent's most celebrated headland.
The return route follows Chapman's Peak Drive and winds through Hout Bay and Camps Bay, delivering a scenic finale through some of the most photographed coastal roads in South Africa.

Itinerary
Your guide collects you from your Cape Town accommodation and transfers you to the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront. From here you proceed directly to the boat departure line for Robben Island.
The shared boat crosses Table Bay to Robben Island. A resident island guide leads a bus tour of the grounds, covering the island's political history, and the visit concludes at the cell block where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. The full Robben Island experience, including both boat crossings, takes approximately four hours.
After returning to the waterfront and meeting your guide, the tour travels south via the M3 to the Boulders Penguin Colony near Simon's Town. Boardwalks through the dunes and coastal vegetation provide close-up views of the African Penguin in its natural habitat.
The tour continues to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where stops include the Dias Cross and da Gama Cross monuments and the famous Cape of Good Hope name board. Visitors can hike to Cape Point Lighthouse or use the Flying Dutchman Funicular for the ascent.
The return journey passes through Noordhoek, along Chapman's Peak Drive (subject to road conditions), and through Hout Bay and Camps Bay before dropping guests at their hotel or a requested drop-off point.
