Cold and Hot: Silfra Snorkeling and Sky Lagoon with Snorkeling Photos
Dive between tectonic plates at Silfra, then restore in geothermal warmth at Sky Lagoon.
Silfra snorkeling places you in one of the world's most extraordinary dive sites, where glacial meltwater filtered through lava rock for decades produces visibility exceeding 100 metres. This full-day experience pairs that Arctic immersion with the soothing heat of Iceland's Sky Lagoon, creating a genuine contrast between raw natural cold and restorative geothermal warmth.
Silfra sits within Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Snorkeling through the fissure means floating between two continents in water so clear that the vivid greens of algae known as troll hair create an almost surreal underwater landscape.
After the snorkel, the journey continues to Sky Lagoon, perched on a dramatic coastline just outside Reykjavik. The lagoon draws on centuries of Icelandic bathing tradition, channeling geothermal heat that Icelanders have long associated with wellbeing and recovery.
The visit at Sky Lagoon includes the seven-step Sky Ritual, a structured bathing circuit moving through warm lagoon water, a cold pool, a sauna, a cold mist, a steam room, a body scrub, and a shower sequence. Each step follows practices rooted in Nordic bathing culture and is designed to complement the physical demands of a cold-water snorkel earlier in the day.

Meet your guide at Silfra in Thingvellir National Park. The team provides a full briefing on safety, equipment, and what to expect underwater before suiting up in dry suits.
Guides assist with fitting dry suits and snorkeling gear. Thermal underlayers are provided to ensure warmth throughout the snorkel in the cold glacial water.
Enter the fissure and snorkel through the iconic sections, including Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral, and the Silfra Lagoon. Your guide captures underwater photos throughout the dive.
After exiting the water, change back into dry clothes, enjoy a hot drink, and receive your snorkeling photos. The group then makes its way toward Sky Lagoon.
Arrive at Sky Lagoon on the Reykjavik coastline. Admission and access to the public change facilities are included with the Pure Pass.
