Golden Circle, Friðheimar & Sky Lagoon — With Photos
Geysers, geothermal gardens, and a sunset soak at the edge of the Atlantic
The Golden Circle Iceland tour combines three of the country's most iconic experiences into a single, expertly guided day that begins at your door in Reykjavik and ends in the warm, mineral-rich waters of the Sky Lagoon. Your guide accompanies you from start to finish, capturing professional photos along the way so you leave with lasting memories of Iceland's volcanic landscape.
Few routes in Iceland pack as much geological drama into a single day. From the continental rift at Þingvellir National Park to the thundering columns of Strokkur geyser and the cascading curtain of Gullfoss waterfall, the landscape shifts constantly and rewards curiosity at every stop.
A midday pause at Friðheimar, the celebrated family-run tomato farm that grows produce year-round under geothermal glass, offers a grounding contrast to the wild outdoors. The farm-to-table lunch served here has become a highlight in its own right for many visitors.
The day closes at Sky Lagoon, a cliff-top bathing complex designed to frame the open ocean. There is no fixed departure time from the lagoon, giving you full freedom to unwind in the infinity-style pool for as long as the evening allows.
Tour Highlights
Watch Strokkur geyser erupt every five to ten minutes, shooting boiling water up to 30 metres into the Icelandic sky.
Stand between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates in the UNESCO-listed Þingvellir National Park.
Experience the raw power of Gullfoss, one of Europe's largest waterfalls, cascading through a dramatic two-tiered canyon.
Enjoy a late lunch at Friðheimar, an innovative geothermal tomato farm where the menu is built entirely around what grows under glass.
Receive a curated photo album from your guide, uploaded to a shared drive after the tour for easy download and sharing.
Relax at Sky Lagoon's geothermal infinity pool with unobstructed views over the Atlantic Ocean as the day winds down.
Benefit from door-to-door pickup from your Reykjavik accommodation, with no need to arrange separate transport.
Itinerary
Your guide collects you directly from your accommodation in Reykjavik. The drive east into the interior marks the beginning of a full day in Iceland's geothermal heartland.
The first stop places you at the site of Iceland's original parliament, founded in 930 AD, and along the visible rift where two tectonic plates slowly pull apart. Your guide leads you through the geology and history while capturing photos in the dramatic setting.
The Haukadalur geothermal valley is home to Strokkur, which erupts with remarkable regularity. The surrounding field of bubbling mud pots and steaming vents offers additional context for Iceland's volcanic activity.
The route continues to the Golden Falls, where the Hvítá river drops in two stages into a rugged canyon. Depending on conditions, a walking path brings you close enough to feel the mist from the falls.
The group stops at this family-operated greenhouse farm where tomatoes and herbs are cultivated using geothermal energy. Lunch here is a relaxed, flavour-forward experience set inside the warm, fragrant growing house.
The tour concludes with a transfer to Sky Lagoon on the Kársnes peninsula. You are free to bathe, use the ritual spa circuit, and stay for as long as you wish before making your own way back to central Reykjavik.
