Red Glacier Monster Truck Tour – Langjökull Glacier from Gullfoss
Ride the legendary Sleipnir Monster Truck onto Iceland's second-largest glacier for a journey through ice, folklore, and raw highland scenery.
The Langjökull Glacier Monster Truck Tour takes you from the iconic Gullfoss Waterfall deep into Iceland's interior, reaching the vast ice fields of Langjökull aboard purpose-built Monster Trucks designed for glacier travel. The experience combines natural spectacle, cultural storytelling, and glacier activities into a single four-hour outing accessible to most fitness levels.
Langjökull, meaning "Long Glacier," stretches across the Icelandic Highlands and was historically difficult to access for most visitors. The Sleipnir Monster Trucks change that entirely, providing a stable and comfortable platform from which travelers can reach the glacier's surface safely, regardless of prior highland experience.
Local guides accompany the journey from start to finish, sharing accurate information about glaciology, the ecology of the Icelandic Highlands, and the Norse mythology that has shaped Icelandic culture for centuries. The storytelling continues throughout the drive, making every kilometer between Gullfoss and the glacier a genuinely informative part of the tour.
At the glacier's surface, a pop-up cafe offers hot drinks and traditional Icelandic pastries, and guests are invited to taste meltwater directly from the ice. Seasonal activities including sledding and glacier golf are available subject to conditions, adding a playful dimension to the scientific and cultural content of the day.

Tour Itinerary
Arrive at the upper parking area of Gullfoss Waterfall on Road 35, located near the Panorama Restaurant and Cafe. Look for the Sleipnir meeting point sign and the transfer bus parked close to the road. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure.
A Highland bus transfers the group from the Gullfoss meeting point to the main Sleipnir base, where the Monster Glacier Trucks are staged and ready. Once aboard the Sleipnir truck, guests choose a seat and settle in for the highland drive toward Langjökull.
The route follows highland roads toward Langjökull, with guides providing continuous commentary on glacier science, local geography, and Norse folklore throughout the drive. The landscape shifts steadily from lowland pasture to the open, volcanic terrain of the interior.
The truck reaches a scenic vantage point on the glacier surface, where guests are free to step outside and explore. Sledding and glacier golf are available on-site, subject to weather and glacier conditions, and guides remain present to answer questions and point out key features of the ice.
A pop-up cafe on the glacier offers hot cocoa, coffee, tea, Jokla cream liqueur, and Kleinur. Guests are also invited to taste meltwater collected directly from the glacier, considered among the cleanest drinking water on Earth.
The tour retraces its route back through the Highlands and returns guests to the original meeting point at Gullfoss Waterfall upper parking area. The full experience from departure to return takes approximately four hours.
