Itinerary Overview
Meet your guide at the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon parking lot, where you will board a 4x4 vehicle. After turning onto an F-Road, you will reach the glacier parking lot in approximately 20 to 30 minutes while your guide covers the history of the surrounding landscape.
At the glacier parking lot, your guide issues crampons, an ice axe, a harness, and a helmet with headlamp. A 30-minute hike across relatively flat, rocky ground brings you to the entrance of the Crystal Ice Cave.
Enter the cavern beneath the glacier, where crystal-blue walls reveal the cave's distinct chambers. Your guide photographs you throughout the approximately one-hour exploration while explaining the cave's formation and annual changes.
Exit the cave and make your way onto Breidamerkurjokull Glacier on crampons. Your guide points out moulins and crevasses as you hike toward the climbing walls across the open glacial terrain.
Spend two to three hours climbing glacial walls, holes, and arches at a level matched to your ability. Your guide sets safety lines, provides technique instruction, and captures action photographs throughout every climb.
Hike back to the glacier parking lot and drive 30 minutes back to the Glacier Lagoon meeting point. Your guide will complete the tour here and confirm the photo delivery timeline.
