Itinerary
Arrive at the Glacier Lagoon parking lot in Vatnajokull National Park at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure. Your guide will be waiting near the bus parking area beside the Ice Pic Journeys 4x4 vehicle, directly across from the restroom facilities.
Board the 4x4 vehicle and travel approximately 20 to 30 minutes across an F-Road toward the glacier base. Your guide narrates the landscape and glacial history of the region throughout the scenic drive.
At the glacier parking lot, your guide distributes all safety equipment and fits gear to each participant. A 30-minute hike on flat, slightly rocky terrain leads you to the cave entrance at the glacier edge.
Enter the cave and spend 45 minutes to one hour moving through its blue ice chambers. Your guide photographs you throughout, pausing to explain cave formation, glacial structure, and the seasonal processes that continually reshape the cave.
Hike back to the glacier parking lot and board the 4x4 for the return drive to Glacier Lagoon. The tour concludes at the same meeting point where you started.
