E-Bike Guided Tour of Sete Cidades
Pedal through one of Portugal's Seven Natural Wonders at your own pace, guided by local experts.
The Sete Cidades E-Bike Tour takes you deep into the volcanic heart of São Miguel's western coast, along crater lakes, scenic viewpoints, and forest trails that no car can reach. This three-hour guided ride blends natural wonder with gentle adventure, making it accessible to a wide range of fitness levels.
The twin lakes of Lagoa Azul and Lagoa Verde sit at the base of an ancient caldera, surrounded by lush green hills that shift tone with the Azorean light. Riding alongside them on an electric bike gives you a perspective that walking and driving simply cannot offer.
Beyond the lakes, the route climbs to panoramic viewpoints and dips into quiet gravel paths through native flora, offering a genuine encounter with the island's geology and biodiversity. The electric assist means you spend more time looking outward and less time struggling uphill.

Itinerary
The tour begins beside the football field in the village of Sete Cidades. Over approximately 15 minutes, the guide covers safety procedures, demonstrates how to operate the e-bike, and distributes helmets, gloves, and reflective vests.
Riders cross the bridge separating the Blue and Green Lakes, taking in the contrast of the two bodies of water before continuing to the Baía do Silêncio picnic area on the Lagoa Azul peninsula via earthen trails.
Returning to the main road, the route ascends the caldera rim with stops at the Lagoa de Santiago and Cerrado das Freiras viewpoints, offering progressively wider views over the crater and surrounding countryside.
At the top, the Vista do Rei viewpoint delivers the most complete panorama of the twin lakes. From here, the group turns onto the Cumeeira Pequena gravel trail for a more adventurous off-road segment.
After passing the Lomba do Vasco viewpoint, the tour descends back into the village, finishing near the Igreja Matriz de São Nicolau and returning to the original meeting point.
