Itinerary

The day begins with pick-up from your hotel or a designated meeting point in Ponta Delgada, travelling by 4x4 jeep with your guide. You head to the village of Sete Cidades, entering its wide volcanic caldera and learning about the island's volcanic past along the way. In the caldera, you visit the local parish at the heart of the village and continue to viewpoints over the crater lakes, including stops around Pico do Carvão, Santiago Lake, Canário Lake and the Sete Cidades twin lakes. The route also passes Cumeeiras along the rim of the caldera before a stop at the Salto do Cabrito waterfall, whose waters are heated by underground hot springs. Lunch is served at a locally loved restaurant offering Azorean dishes of fish, meat, stew and grilled options. The afternoon continues toward Lagoa do Fogo, with a stop at Caldeira Velha and time to take in the Fogo Lake viewpoint and the surrounding nature, among other stops along the way.
