How the Day Unfolds
The group assembles at the designated meeting point in Ponta Delgada. Those who booked the transfer service will be collected from their accommodation between 8:30 and 8:50 in the morning.
The journey to the canyon entrance takes approximately 50 minutes by road. On arrival, guides distribute the full equipment kit and check fittings for every participant.
A 20-minute walk leads the group to the river entrance. Guides deliver a detailed safety briefing here, covering techniques for rappelling, jumping, and moving through the canyon.
The main section of the route includes optional jumps of 2 to 6 metres and rappels between 4 and 20 metres. Guides demonstrate each rappel before participants attempt it, ensuring confidence at every stage.
At a suitable point along the route, the group pauses for an included picnic lunch. This is a natural moment to rest and appreciate the canyon environment before continuing.
The experience closes with an approximately 30-minute uphill walk back to the starting point. Participants with the transfer option are then returned to their accommodation in Ponta Delgada.
