The tour begins at Avenida dos Aliados, Porto's ceremonial boulevard lined with early twentieth-century neoclassical architecture. From here the group can appreciate the Clérigos Tower, the baroque bell tower that has served as the city's most recognisable landmark since the eighteenth century.

The guide leads the group into the main hall of São Bento Station, where the atrium is covered with over 20,000 azulejo tiles painted by Jorge Colaço in the early twentieth century. The tiles illustrate key episodes in Portuguese history and regional traditions, making the station a functioning gallery as much as a transport hub.

The group walks up to the Sé, Porto's twelfth-century cathedral standing at the highest point of the old city. The exterior visit includes time at the Fernandina Wall, a medieval fortification that provides sweeping views across the rooftops toward the Douro River.

At Batalha Square the group boards a comfortable coach for the short transfer through the historic streets toward Vila Nova de Gaia. The route passes several additional landmarks, including the Ribeira waterfront district and the Dom Luís I Bridge.

Across the Douro, the group visits one of Gaia's historic wine lodges, where a specialist guide explains the production, fortification, and classification of Port wine. The visit concludes with a tasting of three different styles of Port, providing a rounded introduction to this protected designation of origin.

The tour finishes back at the original boarding point in Porto's city centre, completing the half-day circuit. Participants are free to continue exploring the city independently after the return.
