Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius Day Trip with Guide from Sorrento
Two of Italy's most compelling sites, covered in a single unforgettable day.
This Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius day trip from Sorrento takes you deep into one of antiquity's greatest tragedies and then up to the very crater that caused it. A professional archaeologist leads the Pompeii portion, while an alpine guide accompanies the ascent to Vesuvius.
Pompeii was a thriving Roman city before the catastrophic eruption of 79 A.D. buried it under meters of volcanic ash and pumice. Its excavated streets, public buildings, and domestic interiors offer a rare window into the rhythms of ancient Roman daily life.
After exploring the ruins, the tour transfers by minibus to the 1,000-meter entrance of Mount Vesuvius. The hike to the crater rim is rated easy and rewards walkers with a sweeping panorama over the Gulf of Naples.
Tour Highlights
Walk through the Civil Forum, the administrative and commercial heart of ancient Pompeii.
