8-Day Small Group Journey Around Iceland
Circle the entire island with expert local guides, from glacial lagoons to volcanic highlands
This Iceland Ring Road small group tour takes travellers across eight days of Iceland's most celebrated natural and cultural landscapes, guided by experts with deep roots in Icelandic travel. With a maximum of 25 participants, the journey balances genuine discovery with personal comfort.
From the geothermal wonders of Lake Mývatn to the towering basalt columns of Reynisfjara, each day on this itinerary presents a distinct face of Iceland. The route follows the Ring Road in a full loop, ensuring that iconic sites such as Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, Gullfoss Waterfall, and the Snæfellsnes Peninsula are experienced in context rather than isolation.
Snæland Travel, established in 1945, brings decades of accumulated expertise to every aspect of the journey. Drivers are trained in Iceland's unique road conditions, and accommodations are selected for quality in each region visited.
Optional enhancements, including a Glacier Jeep excursion on Vatnajökull and a visit to the Blue Lagoon, allow travellers to personalise their experience without disrupting the group itinerary.
Tour Highlights
Sail among drifting icebergs on the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon aboard an amphibian boat, then walk Diamond Beach where icebergs rest on black volcanic sand.
Explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, known as Iceland in Miniature, including the iconic Kirkjufell Mountain and the hidden volcanic craters of Hólahólar.
Visit Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates visibly diverge and history was made in 930 AD.
Witness the geothermal spectacle of Námaskarð, the erupting Strokkur geyser, and the bubbling mud pools that define Iceland's volcanic interior.
Drive through the remote East Fjords, where wild reindeer roam freely and narrow fjords frame historic fishing villages largely untouched by mass tourism.
Stand before Dettifoss Waterfall, one of Europe's most powerful cascades, and later walk behind the curtain of Seljalandsfoss on the South Coast.
Discover Iceland's rural heritage at the Glaumbær Museum, a well-preserved turf farmhouse in the Skagafjörður heartland of the Icelandic horse.
