5-Day Northern Lights Hunt and Glacier Lagoon Tour
Chase auroras, walk beside glaciers, and discover Iceland's most iconic landscapes on one carefully crafted journey.
This 5-day Iceland Northern Lights and glacier lagoon tour takes small groups of up to 25 travellers through the country's most celebrated natural scenery, from the geothermal geysers of the Golden Circle to the floating icebergs of Jokulsarlon. Expert local drivers with deep knowledge of Icelandic road conditions guide every stage of the journey. Accommodation, breakfasts, and a full itinerary of landmark stops are included throughout.
Snæland Travel has been operating Icelandic tours since 1945, bringing decades of on-the-ground expertise to every departure. Travel is by full-sized coach, which means no luggage restrictions and more personal space than smaller bus operators typically provide. Two nights are spent in a countryside hotel close to Vik, removing the light pollution of the capital and maximising Northern Lights viewing conditions, weather permitting.
The route covers the Golden Circle, the South Coast, Reynisfjara Black Beach, Skaftafell, and the southeast glacier region in a logical sequence that avoids backtracking. Optional extras, including a Blue Ice Cave experience on Vatnajokull and entry to the Blue Lagoon, allow travellers to personalise the itinerary. Both options are bookable as add-ons without affecting the core programme.
Friðheimar Farm adds a less expected dimension to the tour, offering a look at geothermal greenhouse cultivation that sustains fresh produce year-round in a subpolar climate. The stop at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, provides context for Iceland's geological and parliamentary history. Every day brings a different type of landscape, from lava fields and black sand beaches to glacial lagoons and thundering waterfalls.
