Benagil Kayak Tour From Benagil Beach
Paddle through the Algarve's most iconic sea caves at your own pace, guided by local experts.
The Benagil Kayak Tour offers direct water access to the world-famous Benagil Cave and a series of neighboring sea caves along one of Portugal's most photographed coastlines. Departing from Benagil Beach, this experience is open to all skill levels, with no prior kayaking experience required. Guides accompany every group throughout the route, sharing knowledge about the region's geology and marine biodiversity.
The Algarve's limestone cliffs have been sculpted by centuries of Atlantic erosion, creating a sequence of arches, grottoes, and caverns that can only be reached by water. Kayaking is widely considered the most intimate way to explore this stretch of coastline, allowing participants to move at a relaxed pace and enter spaces that larger vessels cannot reach.
Otter Tours operates this experience with a focus on responsible tourism. Guides brief participants on environmental practices before departure, and the small-group format limits the impact on the marine and coastal environment. Waterproof dry bags are provided so that personal belongings stay secure throughout the outing.
Since August 2024, legislation prohibits walking access inside Benagil Cave, meaning all visits must take place from the water. Kayaking therefore remains one of the few ways to enter and observe the cave's interior legally and fully.
