East Terceira Van Tour: Viewpoints, History and Coastal Scenery
A curated half-day journey through the eastern landscapes of Terceira Island.
The East Terceira Van Tour takes you through some of the island's most rewarding scenery in just three hours, combining dramatic viewpoints, a historic village, and a stretch of Atlantic coastline rarely seen on foot.
Departing from Marina de Angra, the route climbs toward elevated lookouts before descending into the pastoral heart of the island, where stone walls divide vivid green pastures into a patchwork pattern that has become one of Terceira's most recognised landscapes.
The tour is well suited to first-time visitors who want a structured overview of the eastern side of the island, as well as returning travellers looking to explore beyond the city of Angra do Heroismo. A knowledgeable local guide accompanies the group throughout.

Itinerary
The tour begins at Marina de Angra in the heart of Angra do Heroismo. From here the group boards the van and heads east along the island's roads.
The first stop offers a wide-angle view over the surrounding landscape. This elevated vantage point is one of the quieter lookouts on the island and provides excellent photography conditions.
A visit to this well-preserved village allows guests to observe traditional Azorean architecture and learn about the cultural heritage of eastern Terceira from the local guide.
Serra do Cume is famous across the Azores for its aerial-like view of the plains below, divided into geometric green fields by volcanic stone walls. The guide provides context on the island's dairy farming traditions.
Participants have time to appreciate the marina and beach at Praia da Vitoria, the second-largest town on Terceira. The bay here is calm and well sheltered.
The tour concludes at this elevated lookout with views over the city and surrounding bay. After time to take in the scenery, the group returns to the meeting point.
