Capri Secret Corners Experience: Hidden Caves, Faraglioni and the Real Mediterranean
An intimate three-hour sea voyage around Capri's most compelling coastal landmarks, led by a local skipper who knows every tide and legend.
The Capri Secret Corners Experience takes you beyond the crowded ferry routes and into the quieter coves, dramatic rock formations, and storied sea caves that define the island's true character. This is not a mass-market excursion: it is a tailor-made passage through landscapes that most visitors only glimpse from a distance.
Your skipper is a local who has navigated these waters for years, carrying the kind of knowledge that no guidebook contains. From the shifting light inside the Green Grotto to the precise angle at which the Faraglioni stacks cast their shadows at midday, every detail of the route reflects genuine familiarity with the island.
The itinerary adapts to sea conditions, time of day, and the rhythms of the crowd, so that you consistently find yourself where the scenery is best and the water is calmest. Fresh drinks, beach towels, snorkeling masks, and onboard music are all provided, leaving you free to focus entirely on the experience.
Tour Highlights
Sail past the Green Grotto, whose interior waters turn a vivid emerald through a play of natural light unique to this cavity on Capri's southern coast.
Observe the three Faraglioni stacks — Stella, Mezzosoprano, and Scopolo — from the sea, the perspective from which their true scale and isolation become apparent.
Pass Punta Carena, home to one of Italy's most powerful lighthouses, operational since 1867 and visible from 25 nautical miles offshore.
Stop in the Marina Piccola area, where calm, clear water invites swimming, snorkeling, or simply resting on deck with your preferred drink.
Capture photographs at the Faraglioni and at the statue of Gennarino the Scugnizzo, the small stone figure that has welcomed arriving boats for generations.
Follow smart scheduling designed to avoid peak sea traffic, giving you a more exclusive and uninterrupted view of each landmark along the route.
Personalize the outing with optional extras such as an aperitif between the stacks, a celebratory toast, or souvenir video footage recorded during the voyage.
Itinerary
The tour begins with a coastal passage toward the Green Grotto on Capri's southern side. Known since the sixteenth century, this sea cave takes its name from the jade-coloured water produced by filtered sunlight reflecting off the submerged floor.
From the Green Grotto the route continues to the White Grotto before rounding Punta Carena, where an octagonal masonry lighthouse built in 1862 still emits its characteristic three-second white flash. At 73 metres above sea level and with a range of 25 nautical miles, it ranks among the most powerful lighthouses in Italy.
The boat reaches the three celebrated stacks: Stella at 109 metres, Mezzosoprano at 82 metres, and Scopolo at 106 metres. Scopolo is the exclusive habitat of the blue lizard Podarcis siculus coeruleus, a subspecies found nowhere else on earth. The skipper pauses here for photographs and, on request, for a toast or aperitif.
The itinerary includes a pause near Marina Piccola, where the water is clear and sheltered enough for swimming or snorkeling. Masks and towels are provided onboard; snack meals are not included but guests are welcome to bring their own provisions.
A stop at the Blue Grotto is included in the route when queue lengths and tidal conditions allow access. Entry is not guaranteed and depends on sea state confirmed each morning; the entrance ticket is not included in the tour price and is payable only in cash on site.
On the return leg the skipper points out the rock bearing the small statue of Gennarino, the boy known as the Scugnizzo, a traditional symbol of welcome for all vessels arriving at Capri. The boat then makes its way back to the departure point.
