Whale and Dolphin Watching with Lunch and Afternoon Sea Activities at Caloura
A complete day at sea: cetacean watching, fresh fish lunch, and water sports on the southern coast of São Miguel.
This full-day tour offers one of the most well-rounded ways to experience the Azores, combining a guided whale and dolphin watching tour in São Miguel with a traditional seaside lunch and a choice of afternoon water activities at the picturesque Porto da Caloura.
The morning is spent offshore with a certified marine biologist on board, scanning the Atlantic for cetaceans in their natural habitat. Depending on seasonal patterns, encounters may include common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, sperm whales, or blue whales — among the most diverse cetacean populations in European waters.
After returning to shore, the group travels to Água de Pau, where lunch is served at a local restaurant overlooking the ocean, known for its freshly grilled fish. The afternoon then opens up for participants to choose between stand-up paddle, snorkeling in the clear waters of Caloura, or relaxing in the natural saltwater pool carved into the volcanic rock.
Activities rotate in groups of around ten people, with approximately 40 minutes per activity, giving participants the option to try all three before the return to Ponta Delgada.
