You board a public bus alongside locals and travel to Cidade Velha, the oldest colonial settlement in sub-Saharan Africa. This short journey is part of the authentic local experience that defines this tour.

At 120 meters above sea level, the Real Fortress of São Felipe offers commanding views and a vivid account of the city's defense against pirate raids. You then walk to the ruins of the Sé Cathedral, the first cathedral of its kind built by Europeans south of the Sahara, before watching fishermen return to shore with their traditional wooden boats.

The route continues to the Pelourinho, the site of the former slave market and one of the most significant historical locations in the Cape Verde archipelago.
