The tour begins with a departure from ANC Tours in Valados, with clients asked to arrive at 08:30. From there, the buggy route runs through a sequence of named points across São Miguel Island, including Miradouro dos Aflitos, Batalha Golf, Ribeira Grande, Lameiro, Coroa da Mata, Gramas, Ribeiras, Parque Industrial da Ribeira Grande, Portões Vermelhos, Marques, Azores Parque and Mata Mulheres, before returning to ANC Tours in Valados. Along the way, drivers pass farms with grazing cows, volcanic rock walls, trees and ocean-framed landscapes that give the island's inland and coastal scenery. Anyone wishing to drive must present a valid Portuguese driving licence and sign a liability statement before setting off.

Anyone driving a buggy must present a driving licence valid in Portugal and sign a liability statement before the tour begins. A safety deposit of 500 euros per vehicle is required by credit card, cancelled within 72 hours after the tour; cash deposits are not accepted, and the driver is responsible for any damage to the vehicle beyond its third-party insurance. Included in the price are a guide, personal insurance, helmets and fuel. Free cancellation is available up to 48 hours before the start time; after that, no refunds are given. Refunds are also not given for arriving more than 15 minutes late, for not presenting a valid driving licence or the credit card for the deposit, for cancelling due to inexperience with the vehicle, or for giving up after the tour has started. Travellers are advised to bring a waterproof jacket, warm clothing and closed shoes, as sandals or flip flops are not suitable.
