RIB Trip Along the Gulf of Orosei: Cala Luna to Cala Goloritzé from Arbatax
A full-day coastal adventure through Sardinia's most celebrated coves and crystalline waters
Departing from Arbatax, this Gulf of Orosei RIB tour brings you face to face with the dramatic limestone coastline of central-eastern Sardinia, visiting beaches consistently ranked among the finest in the Mediterranean. The route covers iconic stops including Cala Mariolu, Cala Goloritzé, and Cala Luna, offering ample time in the water at each location.
The inflatable rigid boat format allows access to coves and anchorages that larger vessels cannot reach, making the experience considerably more intimate than standard ferry excursions. Passengers travel in small groups, and multiple swimming stops are scheduled throughout the day.
An on-board aperitif service is included, with prosecco and snacks for adults and fruit juice for children. The itinerary is designed to balance time on the water with extended beach stops, giving travellers space to snorkel, swim, and explore the shoreline at their own pace.
The option to visit the Grotta del Fico, a cave system set into the coastal cliffs, provides an alternative to the Cala Biriala beach stop for those interested in the geological features of the area. Entrance tickets for the cave can be purchased on site in cash.
Tour Highlights
Swim and snorkel at Cala Mariolu, one of the most celebrated beaches in the world for its turquoise shallows and white pebble shore.
Admire the towering limestone spire at Cala Goloritzé, a natural monument accessible only from the sea on this coastal route.
Explore the sea caves framing Cala Luna's crescent beach, carved into the cliff face by centuries of wave action.
Travel aboard a modern 2024 RIB with freshwater showers, climbing ladders, and an awning for shade during the journey.
Enjoy a complimentary aperitif with prosecco and snacks served on board, with fruit juice provided for younger passengers.
Optional visit to the Grotta del Fico cave system in place of the Cala Biriala beach stop, offering a different perspective on the coast's geology.
Itinerary
The tour sets off from Arbatax harbour heading north along the coast toward the Gulf of Orosei. The journey along the coastline offers early views of the rugged limestone cliffs characteristic of this stretch of Sardinia.
The boat anchors off Cala Goloritzé for a swimming stop in the bay below the famous rock spire. The water here is notably clear and shallow close to the shore, suitable for snorkelling.
Passengers choose between approximately one hour on the beach at Cala Biriala or a visit to the Grotta del Fico cave system. Cave entrance tickets are available for purchase on site in cash only.
Around one hour and twenty minutes are spent at Cala Luna, where a snack bar and refreshment point are available on the beach. The cave formations at the back of the bay are accessible on foot from the shoreline.
The final beach stop of approximately one hour and ten minutes takes place at Cala Mariolu, known internationally for its pebble shore and vibrant underwater environment. This is the primary snorkelling location of the day.
The boat returns along the coast to Arbatax harbour. Itinerary, stop durations, and sequence are subject to adjustment based on weather conditions and skipper decisions.
