Godafoss Express Shuttle Round Trip from Akureyri
Chase the Waterfall of the Gods and explore Akureyri at your own pace
The Godafoss shuttle from Akureyri delivers a seamless round trip to one of Iceland's most celebrated waterfalls, with flexible drop-off options that let you continue exploring the city on your own terms.
Godafoss, whose name translates as Waterfall of the Gods, sits along the Skjalfandafljot river in northern Iceland and carries both geological drama and deep historical significance. The horseshoe-shaped cascade stretches roughly 30 metres wide and drops about 12 metres, creating a constant mist that catches light in striking ways at nearly any hour.
After the waterfall visit, the shuttle returns toward Akureyri and offers several drop-off choices. The Botanical Garden, set on the slopes above the downtown area, serves as the default end point, allowing guests to walk downhill through the city at a relaxed pace. Guests who prefer a shorter walk can be dropped in the town centre or directly at the port.
Arrangements made directly with the driver can also extend the itinerary to include other local attractions such as ZipLine Akureyri, Forest Lagoon, the Icelandic Aviation Museum, or the Icelandic Motorcycle Museum, though entrance tickets to any attraction are not included in the tour price.

Itinerary
The shuttle departs from Akureyri, heading east along the Ring Road toward the Skjalfandafljot river valley. The drive passes through characteristic northern Icelandic landscapes of lava fields and open farmland.
Guests have time to walk the pathways on both banks of the river for varied perspectives of the falls. The site is accessible and well-marked, with viewing areas close to the water's edge.
The shuttle heads back toward Akureyri along the same scenic route. Guests travelling with a driver arrangement for optional stops will be directed accordingly on the return leg.
The default drop-off is the Botanical Garden, situated on the hillside above the city centre. From here, a downhill walk leads naturally through the town, past historic churches and the Art Museum, toward the port.
Guests who prefer not to walk can request drop-off in the downtown area or directly at the port. The port is only a few hundred metres from the main shopping and dining street.
