          More to know about Dettifoss

Dettifoss is a powerful waterfall located in northeastern Iceland. It is one of Europe's most voluminous waterfalls, fed by glacial meltwater from the Vatnajökull ice cap. The waterfall cascades 44 meters into a rugged canyon, creating dramatic mist and spray. Visitors hike to viewing platforms on either side of the fall to experience its raw natural force and photograph the surrounding volcanic landscape.
Dettifoss is located in Vatnajokull National Park in northeast Iceland, within the Jokulsargljufur canyon section of the park. It sits along the Jokulsa a Fjollum glacial river at approximately 65.8 degrees north latitude, roughly 30 kilometres from Lake Myvatn and 150 kilometres from Akureyri. The falls discharge an average of 193 cubic metres of water per second, making it the most powerful waterfall in Europe by volume. The surrounding landscape is a product of repeated glacial flooding events and ongoing volcanic activity, placing the site within one of the most geologically active regions on the planet.
