Itinerary Overview
Guests are collected from their accommodation within 15 kilometres of the city centre at a pre-arranged time communicated the day before. Those staying outside the pickup zone are asked to meet at the Westin Hotel in Cape Town Central. Once all guests are on board, the guide introduces the group and reviews the day's itinerary in detail.
The tour begins in the Bo-Kaap, a historic neighbourhood dating to the 1760s when it became home to slaves brought from Malaysia, Indonesia, and parts of Africa. Guests explore its brightly painted houses, visit local art galleries, taste Cape Malay pastries such as the koesister, and browse food spice vendors. The guide provides historical and cultural context throughout the visit.
Located in Simon's Town on the Cape Peninsula, Boulders Beach shelters a colony of more than 3,000 breeding pairs of African penguins among its signature granite boulders. Guests spend up to 60 minutes at close range with the colony, guided by commentary on the birds' behaviour, conservation status, and history. Entrance fees apply unless the all-inclusive park fee option has been selected.
The group enters Table Mountain National Park to visit the Cape of Good Hope, a site of exceptional biodiversity and part of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Wildlife including baboons, bontebok, ostriches, and tortoises may be spotted, and Southern Right Whales are visible offshore between June and November. At Cape Point, guests photograph the old and new lighthouses and may hike to the summit or use the Funicular tram at their own cost.
The return journey follows Chapman's Peak Drive, a coastal road carved through the cliffs above the Atlantic Ocean with 114 curves and dramatic lookout points. A 20-minute photography stop is included at the main viewpoint. From Hout Bay, guests board a short boat trip to observe a large colony of Cape fur seals on Seal Island.
Lunch is served at a well-regarded local restaurant with ocean views, offering guests time to relax and reflect on the day. Following lunch, the guide accompanies the group back to Cape Town, with drop-offs at the original pickup points.
