Benagil Kayak Tour — Caves, Coastline and Secret Spots
Explore the iconic Benagil Cave by boat and paddle the hidden coves of the Algarve with expert guides at your side.
The Benagil Kayak Tour combines a scenic catamaran crossing from Marina de Albufeira with hands-on kayaking along one of Europe's most celebrated coastlines. Small groups of up to 17 participants and two dedicated guides keep the experience personal, safe, and far removed from crowded tourist circuits.
Since September 2023, maritime authorities have prohibited kayaks from entering the Benagil Cave directly. Access is now exclusively by boat, and this tour accommodates that regulation seamlessly: guests enter the cave aboard the support vessel, spend roughly five to six minutes inside for photographs, and then transition to kayaks immediately upon exiting.
From that point, the paddle route winds through lesser-known sea caves and rock formations that the Seacret Tours team has mapped over years of operating in the area. Because the catamaran escorts the group throughout, there is no return paddle against the current — the boat collects everyone at the end, keeping physical demand manageable for a wide range of fitness levels.

How the Tour Unfolds
Arrive at the store in Marina de Albufeira 30 minutes before departure to complete check-in, receive a safety briefing, and collect any required equipment.
Board the catamaran and cruise eastward along the Algarve coast toward Benagil. The journey offers views of the sandstone cliffs that define this stretch of the Atlantic shore.
The vessel enters the cave, giving passengers approximately five to six minutes to photograph the iconic domed rock ceiling and the small beach below. This access is by boat only, in compliance with current maritime regulations.
Guests transfer to kayaks just outside the cave entrance and begin paddling under the guidance of the two-person guide team. The route explores additional sea caves and coastal rock formations in the surrounding area.
Guides lead the group to exclusive locations along the cliff face, including caves and arches not accessible on standard boat tours. The catamaran remains nearby throughout this segment.
At the conclusion of the kayak segment, guests board the catamaran for a relaxed return to Marina de Albufeira, with no paddling effort required for the homeward leg.
