Caves and Dolphins Tour from Albufeira Marina
Explore the sea caves of the Algarve and search for wild dolphins on a guided semi-rigid boat tour along 18 km of breathtaking coastline.
The Albufeira caves and dolphin watching tour takes you along one of the most dramatic stretches of Portuguese coastline, covering 18 km from Albufeira Marina to the Alfanzina Lighthouse. A marine biologist and an experienced skipper accompany every departure, keeping the group to a maximum of 12 passengers for a focused, personal experience.
The route passes a succession of sculpted rock formations, hidden beaches, and sea caves carved into the sandstone cliffs. The iconic Benagil Cave is among the highlights, and where conditions allow, a stop for a swim in the open Atlantic is also part of the journey.
Once the coastal section is complete, the boat moves offshore in search of wild dolphins in their natural habitat. Other wildlife encounters are common along this stretch of water, including seabirds, flying fish, and occasional shark sightings.

How the Tour Unfolds
Arrive at the Seacret Tours shop at Albufeira Marina at least 30 minutes before departure. The team will brief you on safety procedures and issue life jackets and ponchos.
Depart from the marina and begin the 18 km westward journey along the Algarve cliffs. The skipper navigates past sculpted rock arches, sea stacks, and secluded sandy coves.
Enter a series of marine grottos along the route, with the Benagil Cave as the centrepiece. The marine biologist provides context on the geology and marine environment.
If sea and weather conditions allow, the boat pauses so passengers can take a swim directly in the Atlantic. Life jackets remain available throughout.
The vessel heads into open water to locate dolphin pods in their natural habitat. The marine biologist explains behaviour, species, and conservation context as sightings unfold.
The boat returns to the marina, concluding the 2h 30min experience. The crew remains available for questions about the wildlife observed during the trip.
