Whale Watching and FlyOver Iceland: Aerial Excursions and Oceanic Encounters
Two of Iceland's most celebrated experiences combined into one unforgettable day on the water and in the air.
This combo tour pairs a whale watching excursion in Reykjavik from the city's Old Harbour with an immersive virtual flight experience at FlyOver Iceland, giving visitors a rare chance to connect with Iceland's natural world from two entirely different perspectives in a single day.
Departing from Geirsgata 11 at Reykjavik Old Harbour, the whale watching portion takes guests into Faxaflói Bay, a feeding ground for Minke and Humpback whales as well as Harbour porpoises and Dolphins. The vessel is equipped with warm overalls, heated indoor cabins, a bar, and free WiFi, making the journey comfortable regardless of the season.
After returning to shore, the day continues at FlyOver Iceland, located in the Grandi Harbour District. Suspended before a giant spherical screen, guests experience the sensation of flight over glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, and coastlines, enhanced by motion technology, wind, mist, and scent effects. The complete FlyOver experience lasts approximately 30 to 35 minutes.
Together, these two activities offer a well-rounded introduction to Iceland's landscapes, one through direct wildlife observation at sea and the other through an immersive cinematic journey across the country's most iconic terrain. The combination is particularly well-suited for first-time visitors to Reykjavik who want to cover significant ground in a single half-day block.
Tour Highlights
Sail into Faxaflói Bay in search of Minke whales, Humpback whales, Dolphins, and Harbour porpoises from Reykjavik Old Harbour.

If no whales are spotted during the tour, guests may join the next available whale watching departure at no additional cost.
FlyOver Iceland includes pre-show presentations drawing on Icelandic culture, folklore, and the country's dramatic natural history.
Both venues are located in or near Reykjavik's Grandi Harbour District, making this a logistically straightforward combo for independent travelers.

The vessel returns to Geirsgata 11 at the conclusion of the whale watching tour. Guests who did not spot any whales may choose to join the next available departure free of charge. All others proceed toward the FlyOver Iceland venue.
Make your way to FlyOver Iceland at Fiskislóð 43 in the Grandi Harbour District of Reykjavik.
