Ribera del Duero Tour: Two Wineries with Transport from Madrid
A focused, small-group wine journey into one of Spain's most celebrated wine regions.
This Ribera del Duero wine tour from Madrid takes you directly into the heart of one of Spain's most prestigious wine regions, visiting two carefully selected bodegas in a single day. With return transport included and a WSET-trained guide by your side, the experience is designed for those who want depth without the length of a full-day extended itinerary.
The Ribera del Duero designation is defined by high-altitude vineyards, extreme continental temperatures, and the Tempranillo grape, known locally as Tinta Fina. These conditions produce wines of considerable structure and character, and the two wineries on this tour illustrate different expressions of that same terroir.
The small group format, capped at eight guests, means you spend genuine time with each producer rather than moving through tasting rooms in a crowd. The guide's wine education background ensures that what you learn at each stop is accurate, contextual, and genuinely useful for understanding what is in your glass.

Small group format with a maximum of eight guests ensures a personal and unhurried experience at every stop.
Itinerary
The group departs from a central Madrid meeting point and travels to Ribera del Duero. The journey takes approximately two hours and serves as an introduction to the region's geography and wine designation.
The tour begins at Val Sotillo, where the guide introduces the key characteristics of the D.O. Ribera del Duero. A winery tour covers vinification methods before leading into a network of underground tunnels that are fundamental to the area's winemaking history.
Guests who wish to eat locally can enjoy a traditional meal of suckling lamb at a nearby restaurant, with reservations arranged in advance by the guide. Those who prefer to continue directly to the second winery may do so, skipping the lunch stop.
The second visit is to a newer project led by producers with a long history in the region. A walk through the vineyards (weather permitting) covers vine growth and introduces a traditional structure known as a guardavina, followed by a tour of the winery and its cathedral ageing room.
The second visit concludes with a seated tasting of three wines accompanied by snacks, allowing time to compare styles and discuss what has been learned across both bodegas.
The group travels back to central Madrid, with an arrival time approximately two hours after departing the second winery. The return journey offers time to reflect on the day's tastings.
