Itinerary
Arrive at the Special Tours ticket office at Geirsgata 11, Reykjavik Old Harbour, at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. Check the Daily Diary on the operator's homepage before you travel for any last-minute updates or changes to the tour status.
Board the vessel and head out into Faxafloi Bay for a whale watching cruise lasting approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Keep watch for Humpback whales, Minke whales, Dolphins, and Harbour porpoises while taking in panoramic views of the coastline and local birdlife. Warm overalls, heated cabins, a bar, and free WiFi are all available on board.
After returning to the harbour, you have free time to relax, explore the city, and enjoy a meal before the evening portion of your experience. This break gives you space to recharge before heading back out to sea after dark.
Return to the harbour for your evening departure and sail out into Faxafloi Bay once more, this time under the Arctic night sky. The cruise lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours and takes you away from city light pollution to maximize your chances of witnessing the Aurora Borealis. Snacks and refreshments are available on board throughout the tour.
Both tours conclude with a return to Reykjavik Old Harbour. If neither whales nor Northern Lights were sighted during your tours, you may be eligible to join again at no additional cost according to the operator's policy.
