GRINGO Yacht — Full-Day Private Charter in Madeira
A full day at sea, on your own terms, aboard a vessel built for comfort and discovery.
This private yacht charter in Madeira invites you aboard Gringo, a spacious motorboat designed to carry up to 12 guests in relaxed, small-group comfort across seven hours of open ocean, volcanic coastline, and marine wildlife encounters.
Departing from the port of Calheta, Gringo's professional crew of two — occasionally three — coordinates with a land-based spotter to guide the vessel toward the cetacean species that frequent these waters year-round. The route unfolds naturally, shaped by ocean conditions and wildlife activity rather than a rigid schedule.
Between wildlife encounters, guests have the chance to anchor at carefully chosen volcanic stone coves, where snorkeling equipment is provided so you can explore the underwater landscape at your own pace. Soft bathing towels, fresh drinks, local beer, Portuguese white wine, and sparkling wine are all included to keep the experience comfortable from departure to return.

How the Day Unfolds
Arrive at the On Tales Whales and Dolphins store at least 15 minutes before departure. The crew conducts a short safety and information briefing before boarding Gringo.
Gringo sets sail from Calheta port, heading out toward the open Atlantic waters surrounding Madeira's southwestern coastline. The crew communicates with the land-based spotter to identify promising areas for wildlife activity.
The spotter on land tracks cetacean movements and guides the vessel to their location. Species that frequent these waters include several resident and migratory dolphins and whales, though sightings cannot be guaranteed.
The crew anchors at one of their preferred coves along the coastline. Guests can jump from the yacht, snorkel through volcanic underwater formations, and swim in sheltered Atlantic waters using the equipment provided.
The remainder of the day is spent cruising at a relaxed pace along Madeira's coastline. Drinks and refreshments are served on deck as guests take in the scenery from a privileged vantage point on the water.
Gringo returns to the port of Calheta after approximately seven hours at sea. Souvenir photographs from the day are delivered to guests digitally following the cruise.
