Manuel Antonio Jungle Night Tour with Pick-Up Included
Discover the hidden world of nocturnal wildlife inside a private Costa Rican reserve.
The Manuel Antonio jungle night tour offers a rare window into the side of tropical nature that most visitors never witness: the forest after dark, alive with creatures that emerge only when the sun goes down. A knowledgeable guide leads a small group through Espadilla Private Reserve, located steps from Manuel Antonio National Park, turning an ordinary evening into an encounter with some of Costa Rica's most elusive wildlife.
Research consistently shows that the majority of tropical species are nocturnal, meaning daylight hikes capture only a fraction of what the jungle holds. By exploring after sunset, guests encounter animals in their most active state, behaving naturally and undisturbed by the daytime crowds that fill the national park.
The route combines a garden walk with a deeper forest section, giving participants a gradual transition from open habitat into dense canopy. The guide uses a mounted scope paired with smartphone photography to capture close-up images of frogs, insects, sleeping birds, and mammals that guests can keep as personal records of the experience.

Tour Itinerary
Your guide collects the group from designated hotels in the Manuel Antonio area. Transportation to the reserve entrance is included in the tour price.
Upon arrival at Espadilla Private Reserve, the guide briefs the group on trail safety, wildlife etiquette, and how to use the scope for smartphone photography. The entrance fee is paid here in cash.
The tour begins in a garden setting that borders the forest edge, where frogs, insects, and smaller reptiles are commonly found. This open section allows guests to adjust to low-light conditions before entering the canopy.
The group moves deeper into the private forest reserve, where the guide uses a flashlight and scope to locate nocturnal mammals, sleeping birds, and invertebrates hidden among the foliage. Approximately 70 percent of the experience takes place in this section.
At each wildlife sighting, the guide positions the scope and assists guests in capturing sharp images through their smartphone. The guide also shares current scientific information about each species observed.
After approximately two hours inside the reserve, the group returns to the vehicle for drop-off at the original pick-up point.
