Catamaran Day Trip in the Gulf of Asinara from Stintino
Crystal waters, wild shores, and authentic Sardinian flavors aboard a private catamaran
This Gulf of Asinara catamaran excursion sets sail from the port of Stintino and takes guests through some of the most pristine marine environments in the western Mediterranean. A small group format ensures a genuine, unhurried experience across eight hours on the water.
The itinerary covers the Natural Pools between Fornelli and Isola Piana, a one-hour shore stop on Asinara Island itself, and a scenic anchorage in front of the celebrated La Pelosa beach. Snorkeling and swimming opportunities arise naturally at each stop along the route.
The BlueRootS catamaran recently completed a full restyling and offers a spacious bow sundeck with cushions, a comfortable stern lounge, two cabins, a galley, and one bathroom. With a maximum of twelve passengers plus crew, the atmosphere remains relaxed and personal throughout the day.
Lunch is served on board and features local appetisers, a fish main course, beer, wine, coffee, and a digestif. Guests with dietary requirements are asked to notify the operator at least one day in advance using the contact on the booking voucher.
Tour Highlights
Swim and snorkel in the Natural Pools between Fornelli and Isola Piana, sheltered waters rated among the clearest in Sardinia.
Spend one hour ashore on Asinara Island, a protected national park and former penal colony with remarkable wildlife.
Relax on the large bow sundeck with cushions while the catamaran glides between anchorages under the Sardinian sun.
Enjoy a full onboard lunch of local appetisers, a fish main course, wine, beer, coffee, and a digestif prepared fresh in the galley.
Admire the iconic La Pelosa coastline from the water, avoiding the crowds that gather on the beach itself.
The trip is rated easy and suitable for families, with both sail and motor navigation keeping the ride smooth and accessible.
Itinerary
The catamaran casts off from Stintino and heads northwest into the Gulf of Asinara. The crew briefs guests on safety and the day's schedule as the coastline opens up ahead.
The first stop drops anchor at the Natural Pools, a sequence of shallow, sheltered bays with exceptional water clarity. Guests can swim, snorkel, or simply float in the calm conditions.
The crew serves a full Sardinian-style lunch in the stern lounge, including a traditional aperitif, fish main course, and drinks. The meal is included in the tour and takes place while anchored or underway.
Guests disembark at Cala Reale or Fornelli for a one-hour visit to Asinara National Park. The island's resident albino donkeys, raptors, and Mediterranean maquis make it a distinctive destination rarely accessible without a boat.
The catamaran positions off La Pelosa beach, allowing guests to take in the turquoise gradient of the bay and enjoy a final swim before the return leg.
The catamaran heads back to Stintino, completing the eight-hour circuit. The crew serves coffee and digestif as the sun begins its descent over the gulf.
