Diving Baptism in Alghero: Discover the Seabed of the Porto Conte Park
Your first underwater experience in the crystal-clear waters of northern Sardinia, guided by a certified instructor.
This diving baptism in Alghero offers first-time divers a safe, structured introduction to scuba diving in one of the most scenic marine environments in the Mediterranean. A certified instructor accompanies participants every step of the way, from equipment fitting to the moment they descend to a maximum depth of 12 metres.
The dive takes place in the sheltered waters of Maria Pia or Mugoni, two sites known for their calm conditions and exceptional underwater visibility. Rocky seabeds, schools of colourful fish, and dense marine vegetation create an environment that rewards curiosity at every turn.
Both sites sit within the Porto Conte Regional Park, a protected natural area that preserves the ecological integrity of the Alghero coastline. The combination of protected status and careful instructor supervision makes this an ideal setting for a first underwater encounter.
The session begins with a brief theoretical introduction on land, covering basic scuba principles, hand signals, and safety procedures before any water entry. This grounding ensures that participants feel prepared and confident before they take their first breath underwater.

How the Experience Unfolds
Participants meet the certified instructor at the designated point. A brief questionnaire is completed to confirm fitness to dive.
The instructor covers fundamental scuba principles, underwater hand signals, and safety procedures. This takes place on land before any water contact.
Participants are fitted with all included scuba gear, including wetsuit, mask, fins, ballast, regulator, and cylinder. The instructor checks all equipment before entry.
Entry into the water is gradual, allowing participants to acclimatise and practice breathing with the regulator in shallow conditions before descending.
The main dive lasts approximately one hour, reaching a maximum depth of 12 metres. Participants explore rocky seabeds and marine life under continuous instructor supervision.
After the dive, participants surface gradually and return equipment. The instructor provides a short debrief and answers any questions about the experience.
