Cagliari: ATV Tour from Guasila Through Ancient Nuragic Landscapes
Ride through sacred wells, towering nuraghi, and sweeping Campidano panoramas on a 55 km off-road adventure
This ATV tour from Guasila takes riders across roughly 55 kilometres of Sardinian countryside, linking Nuragic archaeological sites that span thousands of years of history. The route balances accessible dirt tracks with more technical stretches, making it a rewarding experience for those seeking both culture and outdoor challenge. Trexenta is one of the least-visited corners of the island, offering an authentically local perspective rarely found on the main tourist trail.
Departing from the historic centre of Guasila, the itinerary winds through a landscape shaped by ancient civilisations and agricultural tradition. Wheat fields carpet the gentle slopes of the Campidano plain, while isolated hills conceal sacred monuments that predate the Roman era by centuries. The combination of archaeological discovery and off-road riding makes this tour genuinely distinctive among Sardinian excursions.
Riders visit the Sacred Well of Gutturu Caddi, an extraordinary example of Nuragic hydraulic architecture that archaeologists believe held ritual significance. The route then climbs Monte San Mauro in Gesico before descending through country lanes to Nuraghe Nuritzi and the celebrated Nuraghe Piscu near Suelli. Each stop offers a different perspective on a civilisation that flourished in Sardinia more than three millennia ago.
The terrain transitions from smooth agricultural roads to more adventurous sections requiring basic riding awareness, which is why the tour is rated moderate in difficulty. No prior ATV experience is required, though a willingness to navigate uneven ground is essential. Guides lead the group throughout, providing context at each archaeological landmark.

Itinerary
The tour begins in the heart of Guasila, where guides deliver a safety briefing and ATV orientation. Riders set off on approximately 5 km of dirt roads heading toward the first archaeological site.
After a short ride, the group parks and completes a brief on-foot trek to reach this Nuragic sacred well. The stop lasts around 30 minutes, allowing time to explore the site and absorb its historical context.
The route climbs to Monte San Mauro in Gesico, where a small historic church marks the summit. From this vantage point, the Campidano plain and surrounding hills unfold in an expansive panorama.
Descending via more technical and adventurous country roads, the group reaches Nuraghe Nuritzi. This section of the route offers the most demanding riding terrain of the tour.
Passing through the hamlet of Seuni, the tour arrives at Nuraghe Piscu, one of the most celebrated Bronze Age towers in the area. A stop of approximately 15 minutes allows riders to observe the structure up close.
The final leg of the route brings the group back to the starting point in the centre of Guasila. Total riding distance for the full circuit is approximately 55 km.
