Morro Branco, Praia das Fontes and Canoa Quebrada — Three Beaches in One Day
Red cliffs, freshwater springs, and the spirit of a legendary fishing village along Ceará's most celebrated coastline.
The Ceará beach tour along the east coast connects three of the state's most distinctive coastal destinations in a single, well-paced day. Each stop offers a different character — sculpted cliffs, natural springs, and a bohemian village atmosphere — making this one of the most complete coastal itineraries available from Fortaleza.
The east coast of Ceará has long attracted travelers drawn to its dramatic geology and laid-back culture. The combination of coloured sandstone formations, freshwater caves, and a lively beachfront village creates a journey that moves through landscape and local identity at the same time.
The itinerary is rated easy, suitable for most fitness levels, and is designed so that each location has enough time for genuine exploration. Optional buggy rides add a layer of adventure for those who want to engage with the terrain more actively.
Tour Highlights
Walk through the natural cliff labyrinths of Morro Branco, carved by wind and rain into winding corridors of coloured sandstone.
Discover freshwater springs at Praia das Fontes, where natural sources emerge directly from the base of the cliffs along the shoreline.
Visit the Gruta da Mãe D'Água, a cave formation considered one of the most striking natural features on the Ceará coast.
Observe and purchase local sand-art crafts at Morro Branco, where artisans use coloured sands collected from the cliffs to create detailed bottled paintings.

Optional buggy excursion available at Canoa Quebrada for travelers who want to explore the dunes and cliff edges at close range.
Enjoy free time on Canoa Quebrada beach with full access to beach hut infrastructure, open water swimming, and local seafood cuisine.
Itinerary
The tour departs from Fortaleza and heads east along the coast road toward the first destination. The drive covers approximately 85 km and passes through the coastal landscape of Ceará's eastern littoral.
The first stop is Morro Branco, known for its red and ochre sandstone cliffs that form natural labyrinths shaped by erosion. The local sand-art tradition is on full display here, with artisans producing intricate bottled landscapes using sands collected from the cliffs in various natural hues.
The second stop is Praia das Fontes, named for the freshwater springs that seep through the base of the cliffs along the entire beach. The Gruta da Mãe D'Água cave is located here and is considered a natural highlight of the east coast route.
Between stops or upon arriving at Canoa Quebrada, travelers have the option to join a buggy tour to explore the dune and cliff terrain that characterizes this stretch of coastline. This activity is optional and can be arranged locally.
The final destination is Canoa Quebrada, located approximately 175 km from Fortaleza near the town of Aracati. Upon arrival, the group is received at a beach hut with full infrastructure, after which time is free to swim, explore Broadway street, and sample the local cuisine.
