Day-by-Day Itinerary
The tour departs from Cluj-Napoca, heading first to Turda Salt Mine where the group descends 120 metres underground to explore the vast Rudolf chamber and take a canoeing boat tour on an underground lake. A nine-kilometre hike through Turda Gorges follows, offering elevated views across the Transylvanian plateau and opportunities to identify local flora and fauna.
After lunch in a traditional Transylvanian village, the group visits Coltesti Fortress before arriving in Alba Iulia for the overnight stay.
The day begins with a guided tour of the Alba Carolina Citadel, exploring its Vauban-style star fortifications and the historical layers within. The group then travels south along the Transfagarasan Road to reach Balea Waterfall, where a cable car ascent leads to Balea Lake at over 2,000 metres altitude.
A medium-level hike climbs to 2,311 metres with 300 metres of elevation gain, followed by a mountain picnic before the descent to Brasov for dinner and an evening visit to the city centre.
After breakfast, the group visits Bran Castle to explore the Dracula legend alongside the genuine history of the Romanian Royal Family. The next stop is the Libearty Bear Sanctuary, where a local guide presents the sanctuary's rehabilitation work with over 100 brown bears.
The afternoon includes a visit to the well-preserved Rasnov Citadel before the group travels to Sighisoara to arrive at sunset and settle in for the evening.
The final day focuses on Saxon heritage and rural Transylvanian life, visiting the villages of Viscri, Saschiz, and Biertan — communities that preserve some of the best examples of fortified Saxon church architecture in the region. A traditional meal shared with a local family offers direct insight into village customs and daily life.
The group then returns to Cluj-Napoca, completing the full circuit of the Transylvania Golden Circle.
