Discover Medieval Transylvania Small Group Tour
Citadels, castles, and centuries of legend across Romania's most storied region
This medieval Transylvania tour takes small groups through fortified Saxon villages, Gothic castles, and UNESCO-listed church complexes, revealing a landscape where history and local tradition remain very much alive. Over seven days, travelers journey from Sibiu to Brasov, stopping at the region's most significant cultural landmarks.
Transylvania's layered history — shaped by Dacians, Romans, Teutonic Knights, and Saxon settlers — is visible at every turn. Fortified churches built to withstand Ottoman raids, Renaissance citadels that still dominate hilltops, and villages where traditional crafts and farming practices continue unchanged give this region a depth that few European destinations can match.
The tour moves at a measured pace, allowing time to explore each site thoroughly rather than rushing between locations. Meals are included throughout, with several featuring locally sourced ingredients that reflect the culinary heritage of the region.
A guided hike through the Piatra Craiului National Park on day six introduces the rural dimension of Transylvanian life, with a visit to a working farm, a natural cave, and mountain villages where communities have maintained the same way of life for generations.
