La Maddalena Archipelago Speedboat Excursion from Palau
Navigate the crystal waters of northern Sardinia aboard a classic open speedboat and discover the hidden coves of the La Maddalena Archipelago.
A full-day journey aboard a comfortable 12-metre speedboat takes you deep into the La Maddalena Archipelago speedboat excursion, one of the most protected and visually striking marine areas in the Mediterranean. Departing from the port of Palau in north-eastern Sardinia, this tour reaches the iconic natural pools of Budelli and the secluded coves of Spargi Island. The route is carefully crafted to balance exploration, swimming, and relaxed enjoyment of the Sardinian sea.
The archipelago is a national park made up of seven main islands and dozens of smaller islets, each surrounded by shallow, transparent water ranging from deep turquoise to pale jade. The natural pool enclosed between Budelli, Razzoli and Santa Maria is considered one of the most extraordinary swimming spots in Italian waters. The famous Pink Beach of Budelli, now protected and viewable only from the sea, adds a rare visual landmark to the day.
After the northern islands, the route continues south towards Spargi, where Cala Soraja and Cala Corsara offer calm anchorage, dramatic granite boulders and clear, shallow seabeds ideal for snorkelling. Throughout the day, the two-person crew manages navigation and catering, allowing passengers to focus entirely on the scenery and the water. The boat carries a maximum of twelve passengers, keeping the experience intimate and manageable for all age groups.
Meals are prepared and served on board, featuring a genuine aperitif with Sardinian cured meats, cheeses and olives, followed by a first course of spaghetti with fish sauce accompanied by water, wine and beer. The afternoon brings Sardinian sweets and seasonal fruit. The entire food offering reflects local produce and the island's culinary traditions without any pretension.

Itinerary
The boat departs from the port of Palau in north-eastern Sardinia. The navigation to Budelli takes approximately 50 minutes, during which the crew prepares the aperitif and passengers settle onto the sunbathing net or seating areas.
A stop of approximately two hours allows passengers to swim and snorkel in the natural pools formed between the three islands. The Pink Beach of Budelli is visible from the water during this stop.
While sailing towards Spargi or anchored in a sheltered spot, the crew serves lunch consisting of a spaghetti first course with fish sauce, local Sardinian snacks and drinks. Sardinian sweets and seasonal fruit follow in the afternoon.
The first stop at Spargi Island lasts approximately one hour. Cala Soraja is a wide, sheltered cove with shallow seabeds and a sandy bottom suitable for all swimming abilities.
A second stop of approximately one hour at Cala Corsara rounds out the island exploration. The cove is framed by large granite boulders and offers clear water for snorkelling close to the rocky outcrops.
The boat navigates back to the port of Palau to conclude the excursion. Exact timing and stop order may vary based on sea and weather conditions at the skipper's discretion.
