Full-Day Boat Tour Around Ischia Island
Discover hidden bays, volcanic coastlines, and ancient fortresses from the water
This Ischia boat tour takes you on a seven-hour journey around one of the most storied islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea, visiting coastal landmarks, secluded coves, and historic sites that are simply unreachable by land.
Departing from the port of Forio, the route traces the entire southern and eastern coastline of Ischia, revealing a landscape shaped by volcanic activity, centuries of Mediterranean culture, and remarkably clear water. Each stop has been chosen to offer a different perspective on the island, from broad thermal bays to narrow inlets framed by lava rock.
The experience is designed to be relaxed and unhurried. There is time to swim, to snorkel over Posidonia meadows, and to share a full onboard lunch with local flavors including peppered mussels, fresh pasta courses, wine, and limoncello.
The crew is knowledgeable about the island's history and geography, and the vessel is spacious enough to move around comfortably throughout the day. The tour is rated easy and is suitable for most fitness levels and age groups.

Tour Itinerary
The group meets at the port of Forio on Via Marina, 48, opposite the Town Hall, where the crew provides a briefing before boarding. The boat is comfortable and spacious, setting the tone for a relaxed day on the water.
The first navigational stop brings the group to Citara Bay, a wide and scenic inlet framed by the dramatic cliffs of Punta Imperatore. The bay is located directly below the Poseidon Gardens, the largest thermal park on Ischia, and offers a striking view from the water.
The route continues to the ancient fishing village of Sant'Angelo in the municipality of Serrara Fontana, celebrated for its multicolored houses and calm, clear sea. From there, the boat heads to Sgarrupata Bay, one of the island's most visually striking coastal formations, where sheer volcanic cliffs meet traditional island vegetation including Biancolella and Forastera vines.
The tour passes by the iconic Aragonese Castle, a fortified complex built on a natural islet connected to the main island by a stone causeway. It served as a strategic defense post for centuries and today ranks among Ischia's most visited historical monuments.
The final destination is Varulo Bay, where the secluded Varulo Beach, also known as Spiaggetta delle Monache, is set against a backdrop of iridescent blue water and a seabed rich in Posidonia. This is a prime location for swimming and snorkeling, and is only reachable by boat.
After a full day exploring the coastline, the boat returns to the port of Forio. The tour concludes in the late afternoon, giving guests time to explore the town independently if they wish.
