Guided Dolphin Watching Tour from Portimão with Biologist
Navigate the Atlantic with a marine biologist and discover wild dolphins in their natural habitat.
This dolphin watching tour in Portimão takes you out into the open Atlantic for up to two and a half hours aboard a spacious, jet-powered vessel. A certified marine biologist accompanies every departure, offering expert commentary on cetacean behaviour and the coastal ecosystem. The experience is built around responsible observation — no feeding, no contact, and safe distances maintained at all times.
Departing from Portimão Marina, the route follows the waters where resident dolphin populations are frequently encountered. The vessel is equipped with a professional hydrophone, allowing passengers to hear real-time underwater sounds transmitted directly on board — a rare addition that sets this tour apart from standard wildlife excursions.
The team holds AOC 10/2024 certification for cetacean watching and operates under strict environmental protocols. Digital photos, video footage, and an audio recording are sent to all passengers by email after the tour, providing a lasting record of the outing.
A swimming stop is included in the itinerary, subject to sea conditions on the day. Pets are welcome on board with prior notice, and the vessel is accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs when notified in advance.
