Diving Baptism in Porto Torres: Discover the Mediterranean Seabed
Your first breath underwater, guided by certified instructors on the north-west coast of Sardinia.
A diving baptism in Porto Torres offers a safe, structured, and genuinely memorable way to encounter the underwater world of the Mediterranean Sea for the very first time. Supervised by experienced instructors, participants descend to a maximum depth of 12 metres in conditions suited to complete beginners.
The experience takes place at one of two remarkable sites: the clear, sheltered waters of Balai beach or the textured seabed of Scoglio Lungo beach. Both locations are home to the characteristic marine species of the Sardinian coast, including fish, invertebrates, and sea flora typical of the western Mediterranean.
Before entering the water, every participant receives a thorough introductory briefing covering fundamental scuba techniques and the correct use of all rental equipment. The session is designed to build confidence gradually, so that even those with no prior experience can focus on the environment around them rather than the mechanics of breathing underwater.
Porto Torres sits on the Gulf of Asinara, a protected natural area recognised for its water quality and biodiversity. This geographic context makes it one of the most accessible and rewarding destinations in Sardinia for a first contact with scuba diving.

How the Experience Unfolds
Participants meet the guide at the agreed location in Porto Torres and complete a short health and consent questionnaire, which is standard procedure for all introductory dives.
Each participant is fitted with the full rental kit — wetsuit, mask, fins, ballast, BCD, regulator, and cylinder. The instructor then delivers an introductory briefing covering essential techniques and hand signals.
Under close supervision, participants enter the sea at the chosen dive site and begin to descend gradually, adjusting to the sensation of breathing through the regulator at shallow depth.
The underwater session lasts approximately one hour, reaching a maximum depth of 12 metres. The instructor guides the group through the seabed, pointing out local marine life along the route.
After the dive, participants return to the surface and remove equipment at a safe pace. The guide provides a brief closing debrief and answers any questions about the experience.
