Itinerary
Your private chauffeur collects you directly from your hotel in Reykjavik, allowing you to begin the day without arranging your own transport. The drive to the first stop takes approximately one hour through the Icelandic countryside.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site sits within a rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are visibly drifting apart. The park is also the location where Iceland's parliament, the Althing, was established in 930 AD, making it one of the oldest functioning parliaments in history. The visitor center offers interactive exhibitions on the park's geological and historical significance.
Roughly 45 minutes from Thingvellir, the geothermal area is centered on Strokkur, which erupts with regularity every few minutes. The surrounding landscape includes bubbling hot springs, colorful mineral deposits, and steam vents. A visitor center and restaurant facilities are available on site.
A ten-minute drive from Geysir, Gullfoss is a two-tiered waterfall fed by the Langjökull glacier, dropping approximately 32 meters into a canyon. The suspended glacial sediment gives the water a distinctive turquoise hue, and on clear days the mist produces a visible rainbow. Walking trails near the waterfall offer elevated views of both the falls and the wider landscape.
About 50 minutes from Gullfoss, Kerid is a caldera formed around 3,000 years ago when a volcanic magma chamber emptied and the land above collapsed. The crater measures roughly 270 meters wide and 55 meters deep, with a striking blue-green lake at its base. Visitors can walk the rim for panoramic views or descend a path to the crater floor.
Your driver returns you to your hotel in Reykjavik at the end of the tour. If you have arranged the optional Blue Lagoon visit in advance, a separate transfer will take you there at an additional charge, as it lies in the opposite direction from the Golden Circle route.
